1. How to apply for Berlinale Talents

Your application concentrates on you as a film professional – it is the basis for your participation at Berlinale Talents.

Please note: We do not accept team applications.

For Berlinale Talents alumni: In general, Berlinale Talents is not intended for participants to attend more than once. However, as an alumnus/alumna you can be selected as a participant of Talent Project Market, Doc Station, Script Station or Short Film Station. You can find the application on your personal profile website after you login.

Your application will only be processed if you follow these steps:

  • 1. Select your field of work - show details

You will start your application by choosing your main field of work (actor, cinematographer, director, distributor, editor, film critic, producer, production designer, screenwriter, sound designer/composer)

Please note: your choice will affect which project labs, studios and/or workshops will be open to you later in the application process. You may additionally select a secondary field of work.

  • 2. Check your eligibility - show details

The Campus is looking for 300 film professionals in the first 10 years of their filmmaking career. Upon selection you will be invited to meet or work with first-class experts at the summit programme or in an array of project labs, studios and workshops, including various one-on-one meetings. All master classes, seminars and workshops are in English. We also ask applicants to fill out the application forms in English. Therefore an advanced knowledge of the English language is a basic condition for participation.

Furthermore, applicants have to fulfil the following criteria:

    For filmmakers:
You have worked in a key crew position (i.e. actor, cinematographer, director, editor, screenwriter, production designer, producer, sound designer/composer) on at least two short films or one film of at least 60 minutes in length that were/was screened at an international film festival and/or awarded a prize.

    For distributors:
You have distributed at least two films.

    For film critics:
You have published at least three articles as a film critic

  • 3. Agree to the participation conditions - show details

After checking your eligibility, you will be guided to an overview of the programmes which you will be able to apply for. You will then be asked to read and agree to the participation conditions.

  • 4. Create an application profile - show details
